Community Living Algoma is the 10th organization in Ontario to
receive Accreditation status
Community Living Algoma is thrilled to announce that they have achieved accreditation
status for a two year period, following a recent review conducted by Accreditation
Ontario. John Policicchio, CEO says “The Accreditation Ontario review
validates the commitment and passion of our employees to ensure people have
the best possible quality of life. There has been a considerable amount of
work done during the last three years which lead us to this major organizational
accomplishment.”
CLA becomes the 10th organization accredited through
Accreditation Ontario within the province of Ontario. This is quite an
accomplishment. In preparation for this process, the last three years has
seen CLA and its
staff work towards changing and improving the delivery of supports and
services to people with intellectual disabilities in the district of Algoma
to focus
on personal outcomes. Personal outcomes are what people expect from the
services and supports they receive and refer to the major expectations that
people
have in their lives. Tom Rogers, past chair of CLA’s Board of Directors,
says: “We are very excited with the results of our recent review and
would like to recognize and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our
employees for this successful two-year accreditation status. It is what staff
does every day that makes the difference for people with intellectual disabilities,
and CLA appreciates this contribution from its employees.”
The Accreditation
process is a voluntary one that organizations choose to participate in.
CLA’s
commitment to engage in this external review with Accreditation Ontario speaks
loudly to our commitment of delivering quality supports and services to people
with intellectual disabilities. Through this process, CLA has identified areas
that still need improvement and this will become the focus for the organization.
Over these next few years CLA will focus efforts on developing the role of
the organization in bridging connections between people with intellectual
disabilities and their communities. CLA will seek to partner with other
organizations to address common issues facing our community such as accessibility,
affordable
housing, barrier free education and inclusion for all citizens. Rogers
says, “We
look forward to pursuing our organization’s vision - Join the
Journey, All People Belong.”
